As a Leader / Manager, we tend to focus overly on the Technical acumen of the team member which is critical. However, it is important to pay attention to other Non-technical skills which are measured only through observation and experience. These skills are imperative in today's workplace as more and more companies are globalized. The skills we need to watch out for our team members are
1. Energy: Is the person energized, does he/she looks and speaks with excitement. He /she is showing interest /passion on the Job. Do you need to spend too much time on motivating this employee
2. Judgment: Is the person able to make a sound judgment does he / she overly rely on you for each and every decision. Does he /she comes with thinking or proposal or is it plainly looking for answers.
3. Relationship /Collaboration: How well this person can work with others. Is he /She comfortable speaking to individuals or groups outside of his /her domain?
4. Trust: How much trust can you place with this person? Where are the Gaps.
Here is the Competency tool to give a visual representation of your team. Even though there is a lot of judgment you will have to use to score however to make it reasonable, there are guides to judge.
